From Critical to Confident!

So much of our money decisions start in our head… not with our bank balance. This means that we cannot simply address your financial planning by looking only at your income; we need to go a little deeper, your mindset.

If a friend came to you after a financial mistake (like an impulsive purchase or a lapsed insurance payment), what would you say?

You’d likely reassure them, offer support, and help them move forward. But when you make a similar mistake, that same compassion rarely shows up.

Again, this is the double standard of our inner critic. We extend kindness to others, but expect perfection from ourselves.

Your mindset is just as important as your financial tools. That’s why we encourage clients to coach their inner voice rather than scold it. Just like a sports coach gives feedback to improve performance, not to shame, you can train your inner dialogue to be helpful, clear, and encouraging.

For example, instead of saying “I’m terrible with budgeting,” reframe it as “I’m still figuring out a system that works for me.” Instead of “I’ve wasted so much money,” try “That was a costly lesson – but it taught me what matters.”

Words shape reality. And your internal words shape your financial reality more than you think. This is how you move from critical to confident.

The goal of our team at SFP isn’t to silence doubt altogether, it’s to meet it with strength and clarity. You’re not just managing money; you’re mentoring the voice that helps you make financial decisions every day.
