What are you voting for?

Have you ever considered that every Rand you spend is a vote for the life you want? It is very easy to fall into a state of financial autopilot, where our money simply disappears into convenience, subscriptions, emergencies and the expectations of others.

There will ALWAYS be something to spend your money on. Every time we speak to clients who have kids at school, they say things like “There’s always another event we have to spend money on.” For those who are retired, they often say things like “If it’s not one thing, it’s another.”

For every stage and setup in life, there’s something “wanting” our money.

When we’re in autopilot, we hand our power over to marketers and societal pressure. But you are the editor of your own life. You have the ultimate authority to cut out the expenses that drain you, and amplify the ones that bring you true joy and connection.

You don't have to buy the upgrade, and you don't have to keep up with the neighbours. A budget isn't a restriction; it is a declaration of your priorities.

At SFP, we like to remind our clients to regularly look at their bank statement from the previous week, and ask: Does it reflect what you actually value, or just what was easy in the moment?
